I ran today since it was much much cooler! Still pretty hot, but much more tolerable then running in 30 C plus weather! I shouldn't complain since I don't like cold, but can't run in the heat.
Anyway, I did good. I was a little slower then I have been before (not as slow as my last one tho, LOL). I almost made it the "turn around" driveway. I walked there anyway, then turned around. I only had a hard time for the last 2 secs on my 5th interval, and about the last 15 secs or so of the 6th interval. I found if I did "belly breathing" (an anxiety relaxation technique that we are learning with C), I did much better! Sure it was hard to concentrate on so many things at once (form, running, breathing, etc....) but I did it. The belly breathing worked really good during my walk intervals to get me ready for the next run. I'm going to try to run tomorrow since we are both off the weekend, so he can get up early with the kids, but then again, he has to do his other job, plus yardwork (the yardwork won't make much difference tho), but I am going to give it a shot anyway. I'm only gone for 30ish minutes, so I'm sure I can find the time tomorrow. It looks like my running schedule is going to be Saturday, Sunday, Monday tho. LOL. Not sure how that is going to work out, but right now it is the best I can do for sure. If the weather isn't too hot, then I can run more during the week.
Anyway, I did it (week 2 still), and I found it quite easy. I might try tomorrow to do week 3, but I'm not sure since I again had almost a week off. LOL.

Glad you're back to running! The heat has been unbearable!!
Why not take the kids down to the track in the morning? After he gets home from work. You can still watch the kids while you run and they'll have fun running around there too. I don't know if there's a playground or anything though there. That way you can run in the morning where it's cooler.
That is an option. Z would have to get better at listening tho. There is a playground, but he can't do most of the stuff himself (swings since he still falls off each and every time, climbing since he is a daredevil, etc...). There is also steep hills leading to ditches/swamp that he would have to listen and stay away from. It is worth trying tho to see if he will listen.
Hopefully he'll listen, but that's a way for him to learn. Beside they might have fun running with you. Gets them active too. Besides doesn't running over to your son count as running?? lol
My suggestions for running in this location are: 1) don't run the whole way around the track, turn around halfway to be closer 2) get Z and C to run with, 3) one strike and your out rule with your expectations clearly laid out and what the consequences will be (sorry but my favorite show is Supernanny). 4) if there is a sandbox bring some trucks and buckets for Z build something and then after the run he can play on the slide or swings.
But I like the getting them to run with you and you can tell him that he is just practicing for next years kid race so that he can be faster than some of the older kids.
But I like getting them running with you. This way he can
Well after talking to the kids, I don't think leaving them at the playground while I run will work (even only doing half the track and turning around). There is a log rolling thing there, a climbing thing and they are not sure what else. A lot of tempting stuff for a little boy who thinks he can fly (thanks Buzz Lightyear) and is not afraid of trying this stuff. I will still go, but they will have to run with me (even if their pace is slower, they will catch up on my turn around or I can do a slower pace), and we can play at the playground afterwards as a reward if they behave in the running. This should work out well since C has been bugging me to let her go running with me.
