Week 3 contiued!

I ran on the trail with Rona on Saturday.  OMG, I love it!  It is so much easier to run on a flat surface then run on my road!  I didn't get tired until the last minute of the last 3 minute interval, but even then it wasn't that bad.  I recovered rather quickly and was breathing quite normally within a very short time frame (during the first song I listened to).  I will still run on my road since not every race will be flat, but I think I will do a few runs at the track here just for something different (and easier).  I'm usually winded here on my 5 minute brisk walk since it is up a huge freaking hill, let a lone running up all the other hills.  LOL.  Not sure if I could ever run 20 mins on this road with all the hills (especially the really big ones), but I will give it my best when I get on that level.

I LOVE having no hills on the trail. Since I have always SUCKED at running, my initial plan/goal is to get through the C25K program. As I continue to train for the 10K, I will also do some speed and hills training.

Right now, I am making sure that I am setting myself up for success because I do not want to have any excuses for me quiting (not that it will happen, cuz I am really enjoying running this time around).

There is so much that we have to learn about this sport - which is exciting and will keep it fresh and interesting. I am looking forward to working on the speed training. My pacing isn't too bad when I am doing the interval training. It's is the longer runs that the pace isn't the greatest (but for the record - I DON'T CARE CUZ I CAN RUN FOR 20 MINUTES STRAIGHT which I never thought I would be able to do.

When my friend was actually running the Bluenose marathon, he made a deal with himself during the last few kms that he could walk the hills, but he had to run the rest and he finished with a great time (4 hours 22 minutes).
