I was a little worried last night, cuz they were calling for rain. Fortunately, the rain held off and the temperature was mild. It was beautiful weather for the run. They had a nice turn out, probably around 300 participants. The event started by the kids 1K dash, which was awesome and inspiring. It definitely got me even more ready to do the run.
The course was pretty flat, so that was pretty good. There were a few small hills in the first half but nothing too major. I decided for this run, I would start week 4 - 3 minute run; 1:30 walk; 5 minute run; 3 minute walk. I didn't mind the three minute runs and the first five minute run was okay. But I was pretty much crawling for the last five minute run, but I pushed through it. Then I walked the rest of the 5 k (probably about 2 k). I was gonna try doing a few more minutes of running but I didn't want to push it, so I just walked the rest of the time, but I made sure it was a good pace.
Everyone else that I was there with (Nadine, Ang, Charles, Mike, Ray) were all finished and they cheered me on for the rest. Nadine and Ang even ran the last few meters with me at the end, which made it special. My finish time was around 49:49 minutes, which was slightly slower than my goal of 40-45 minutes (but I am a slow walker - gonna need to work on that). Not too bad for a first race.

We all then went to brunch - and I learned that fried bologna is a must after a 5 k run :-)
My goal for the fiddler 5k in September is a finish time between 30-35 minutes, so I will have to work a bit more on speed. I would also like to run the 10 k in the Valley on 10-10-10 (that would be really cool, but it is Thanksgiving weekend, so I am not sure what the plan will be.

Congratulations!! That is awesome!
I am sure you can pick up the pace some and do the Fiddlers in 30-35. I have no idea what my goal for that is. I don't think I will have a goal really. I just want to finish and not last. LOL.
Wooo!! Way to go!! :D You'll definitely be able to reach that goal. By the Fiddle Run, you'll be running the full 5k :D
I don't really have a goal for the Fiddlers. Like serenity, I don't want to finish last and I just want to be able to do it.
Though...beating you guys wouldn't hurt :P Lol!!
LOL K!
I feel a side bet coming on...
